By pursuing a degree in the Computer Information Technology program, you will work with cutting edge technology and solve interesting problems as you develop the skills necessary for success in networking, computer technology, systems administration and other related fields. Our program’s two-year and four-year degrees are designed with the input of industry leaders, and when students graduate from our program, they possess a degree, certification and experience – the top three things employers are looking for. Not to mention, students in the computer information technology program can seamlessly transfer into the cybersecurity and network administration program to receive their bachelor’s degree.

Along with the general education requirements, students will take courses preparing them for many industry-recognized certifications, including A+, Network+, Cisco Certified Networking Associate Certification (CCNA), Microsoft Certified Professional Certification (MCP) and Linux+.

Learn And Earn Program

West Virginia University at Parkersburg offers students the opportunity to gain work experience while completing their associate in Computer Information Technology through a state-funded program called Learn and Earn.

The Learn and Earn program is sponsored by the West Virginia Community and Technical College System, and is part of the Workforce Development Initiative Program. It is an opportunity to create partnerships between industry and community and technical colleges by allowing students hands-on learning experience, and employers to train ideal future employees.

Associate

Associate of Applied Science in Computer & Information Technology

The Associate of Applied Science in Computer & Information Technology gives students a foundation in computer hardware and operating systems, and provides hands-on coursework in network administration through Cisco Networking Academy courses, and systems administration through Microsoft Windows and Linux courses.

Bachelor

Bachelor of Applied Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity & Network Administration

The Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) program gives students the opportunity to continue their education after completing their associate degree. The majors in the BAT program are designed for students who complete an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Technology or Computer Science and want to learn advanced skills in either computer networking and security or software engineering. The degree provides both academic as well as hands-on coursework in both majors. This program will provide students a clear transition to employment with advanced skills.
