There are three certificate option in the Drafting program at CMU Tech; architectural, civil and mechanical. In each of the programs, students learn drafting concepts and the processes of orthographic projection, pictorial drawing, dimensioning and geometric construction by hand and with CAD software and equipment. The majority of a student’s work will be completed on the computer. A project in the area of the student’s interest will tie the course to real world concepts.

The technical certificate in Architectural Drafting will provide an introduction to Autocad, Revit residential and Revit commercial design and architectural and civil blueprint reading. Students will gain fundamental knowledge of architectural drafting.

Academic Requirements for Technical Certificate in Architectural Drafting, Manufacturing Technology

The technical certificate in Civil Drafting will provide an introduction to Autocad, Autocad Civil 3D and architectural and civil blueprint reading. Students will gain fundamental knowledge of civil drafting.

Academic Requirements for Technical Certificate in Civil Drafting, Manufacturing Technology

The technical certificate in Mechanical Drafting will provide an introduction to AutoDesk Inventor or Fusion and Solidworks software, along with blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing. Students will also gain fundamental knowledge of mechanical drafting.
