Students with one of the following industry-recognized credentials are eligible for credit toward the Building and Industrial Technology degree.

Requirements

Auto Collision Repair

Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -ASE Student Exam: Structural Analysis and Damage Repairs
 -ASE Student Exam: Non-Structural Analysis and Damage Repair
 -ASE Student Exam: Mechanical and Electrical Components
 -ASE Student Exam: Painting and Refinishing
 -OSHA 10– General Industry                           

These certifications must be current and valid. If an individual’s ASE Student Certifications have expired, the individual must have previously passed all of the certifications and hold at least one current ASE technician certification (B2- B5) or an ASE Master Collision Technician certification.

Auto Technology

Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -ASE Student Exam: Engine Repair
 -ASE Student Exam: Automatic Transmission and Transaxle
 -ASE Student Exam: Manual Drive Train and Axles
 -ASE Student Exam: Suspension and Steering
 -ASE Student Exam: Brakes
 -ASE Student Exam: Electronic/Electronic Systems
 -ASE Student Exam: Heating and Air Conditioning
 -ASE Student Exam: Engine Performance
 -OSHA 10 – General Industry

These certifications must be current and valid. If an individual’s ASE Student Certifications have expired, the individual must have previously passed all of the student certifications and hold at least one current ASE technician certification (A1R-A8R) or an ASE Master Automobile Technician certification.

Building/ Property Maintenance

Meet meet requirements for ONE of the 2 pathways below:
 Pathway 1- Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -NCCER Core
 -NCCER HVAC Level 1
 -NCCER Electrical Level 1
 -NCCER Plumbing Level 1
 -NCCER Carpentry Level 1
 -OSHA 10- General Industry
 -EPA 608 Universal Certificate
                      OR
 Pathway 2- Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -NCCER Core
 -NCCER Construction Technology
 -OSHA 10- General Industry
 -EPA 608 Universal Certificate

These certifications must be current and valid. Must have completed the Ohio Technical Center program within 5 years.

Carpentry

Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -NCCER Core
 -NCCER Carpentry Level 1
 -NCCER Carpentry Level 2
 -NCCER Carpentry Level 3
-OSHA 10- Construction

These certifications must be current and valid. Must have completed the Ohio Technical Center program within 5 years.

Diesel Mechanics

Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -ASE Student Exam: Diesel Engine
 -ASE Student Exam: Electrical/Electronic Systems
 -ASE Student Exam: Brakes
 -ASE Student Exam: Suspension and Steering
 -OSHA 10 – General Industry
                          

These certifications must be current and valid. If an individual’s ASE Student Certifications have expired, the individual must have previously passed all of the student certifications and hold at least one current ASE technician certification (T2- T7) or an ASE Master Medium Heavy Truck Technician certification.

Electrician

Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -NCCER Core
 -NCCER Electrical Level 1
 -NCCER Electrical Level 2
 -NCCER Electrical Level 3
 -OSHA 10- General Industry

The certifications must be current and valid. Must have completed the Ohio Technical Center program within 5 years.

Heavy Equipment Maintenance

Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -NCCER Core
 -NCCER Heavy Equipment Operations Level 1
 -NCCER Heavy Equipment Operations Level 2
 -NCCER Heavy Equipment Operations Level 3
 -OSHA 10 – General Industry
 -CDL - Class A

The certifications must be current and valid. Must have completed the Ohio Technical Center program within 5 years.

HVAC

Meet meet requirements for ONE of the 3 pathways below:
 Pathway 1- Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -NCCER Core
 -NCCER HVAC Level 1
 -NCCER HVAC Level 2
 -NCCER HVAC Level 3
 -EPA 608 Universal Certificate
 -OSHA 10- General Industry
                      OR
 Pathway 2- Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -HVAC Excellence: Employment Ready: Core Competencies, Electrical,
 Air Conditioning, Electrical Heat, Heat Pump, Gas Heat & Oil Heat
 -EPA 608 Universal
 -OSHA 10 General Industry
                      OR
 Pathway 3- Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -NATE Core
 -NATE Specialty Exam: Air Conditioning, Air Distribution, Air-to-Air Heat Pump, Gas Furnace, & Oil Furnace
 -EPA 608 Universal Certificate
 -OSHA 10- General Industry     

The certifications must be current and valid. Must have completed the Ohio Technical Center program within 5 years.

Industrial Maintenance

Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -NCCER Core
 -NCCER Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Level 1
 -NCCER Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Level 2
 -NCCER Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Level 3
 -OSHA 10- General Industry

The certifications must be current and valid. Must have completed the Ohio Technical Center program within 5 years.

Plumbing

Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -NCCER Core
 -NCCER Plumbing Level 1
 -NCCER Plumbing Level 2
 -NCCER Plumbing Level 3
 -OSHA 10 – General Industry

These certifications must be current and valid. Must have completed the Ohio Technical Center program within 5 years.

Power Line Mechanic

Must hold ALL the following credentials:
 -AEP D-100
 -AEP D-200
 -AEP D-300
 -CDL-Class A

The certifications must be current and valid. Must have completed the Ohio Technical Center program within 5 years.

Precision Machining

Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -NIMS Machining Level 1 (see below for list of credentials)
     Measurement, Materials and Safety
    Job Planning, Benchwork, & Layout; Manual Milling Skills I
     Turning Operations: Turning Between Centers
     Turning Operations: Turing Chucking Skills
     Grinding Skills I
     Drill Press Skills I
     CNC Turning: Programming Setup & Operations
     CNC Milling: Programming Setup & Operations
     CNC Turning: Operations
     CNC Milling: Operations
 -OSHA 10- General Industry

The certifications must be current and valid. Must have completed the Ohio Technical Center program within 5 years.

Welding

Meet meet requirements for ONE of the 2 pathways below:
 Pathway 1- Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel: FCAW (MIG) Flat Position, Groove Weld (FCAW, 1G)
 -AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel: GMAW Flat Position, Groove Weld (MIG) (GMAW, 1G)
 -AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel: SMAW, (Stick Welding) Flat Position, Groove Weld (SMAW, 1G)
 -AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel: GTAW (TIG), Flat Position, Groove Weld (GTAW, 1G)
 -OSHA 10– General Industry
                      OR
 Pathway 2- Must hold ALL of the following credentials:
 -NCCER Core
 -NCCER Welding Level 1
 -NCCER Welding Level 2
 -OSHA 10– General Industry

The certifications must be current and valid. Must have completed the Ohio Technical Center program within 5 years.

 

To begin the process, interested students must:

1.       Be a current Sinclair student or apply online www.sinclair.edu/apply

a.       Choose: To obtain an Associate Degree for the Job Market to declare the major

b.       Meet with an Academic Advisor to create an Academic Plan and discuss course options

2.       Submit an articulated credit request (look under PLA Policies) via the PLA website  www.sinclair.edu/pla

a.       Upload a PDF(s) of valid (active) credential/licensure

 

Note: if earned via a Career Technical program, include the Completion Certificate or Secondary One-Year Option Completion Form
