Technical Communication

Minimal jargon. Maximum clarity.

Too long, didn’t read (aka TL;DR)—but it still must be clear. Technical writers prevent confusion by drafting clear and concise documents. With empathy for the end user, you’ll learn how to translate complex documentation into easily understood web pages, blog posts, instructions, proposals and more. From beginner to advanced, written to pictographic, you make Swedish furniture easier to assemble.

Why study Technical Communication with us?

When you study Technical Communication at CLC, you will “learn by doing” by applying the skills you learn in class to real-world projects, such as writing a proposal to solve a workplace problem, developing a website, or designing communication materials for a new business idea.

Your instructors know you by name—not by number. At CLC, the instructors are teachers first, and researchers second. They dedicate their careers to helping you learn and understand the relationship between technical writers and their industries.

Go for a dual degree! Combine general education and technically specialized courses to get your Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Technical Communication. Then, with your core classes completed, take the remaining credits for your second associate degree. Choose from a technical field such as electronics or engineering or a creative field such as Digital Media & Design or English.

You learn the same material studied at 4-year schools, while you receive the personal attention, feedback and hands-on instruction possible only in small classes.
