Welding Certificates

Certificates | 3-5 Credits

Southeast Tech’s Welding program teaches you how to use a heat fusion process to join metal parts. Welding is used in many industries, including automobile manufacturing and repair, shipbuilding, aerospace, as well as in construction of bridges and other structures.

Southeast Tech’s Welding certificates put you on the fast-track to your field. Each course is 4-12 weeks in duration and a certificate is granted for each class. Students can take one or all of STC's welding certificate courses.

  • Introduction to Welding - Gas Metal Arc Welding (WLD 100)
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (WLD 103)
  • Intermediate Welding - Flux Core Welding (WLD 120)

Each course/certificate is "stackable," meaning credits count towards a welding diploma

The type of welding depends on the application and the conditions under which the work is being done. STC’s program focuses on ferrous and non-ferrous materials and welding in various positions and joint designs.

In your field, your other duties might include:

  • Reading blueprints or designs
  • Inspecting structures to be welded
  • Measuring dimensions
  • Monitoring process for overheating
  • Maintaining equipment/machinery

Your Skillset

Your attention to detail and manual dexterity will help you have a steady hand for mastering a strong weld. In addition, your technical skills will be valuable as you operate manual or semiautomatic welding equipment.
