Program Description

A UTILITY POWER WORKER is a person qualified by education and training to construct, maintain and operate the electrical grid as a lineman, substation worker, meter man or industrial electrician. As the demand for a modernized electrical grid increases, so does the demand for highly skilled utility power workers, whose starting wage can be as much as $25 an hour. Graduates of the Amarillo College program could potentially have their first year of apprenticeship waived by industry.
