Nurse Aide

Is This Program Right for Me?

To be successful as a Nurse Aide you should have compassion for others; patience; endurance; critical-thinking and observation skills; active listening and social perception skills; the ability to cooperate with a team; the ability to communicate with others; and dependability.

If you’re interested in the health care field, the nurse aide program offers a Skills Certificate, a Professional Certificate and an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree. The program will prepare you to take the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and Certified Medication Technician (CMT) exams.

CNAs work closely with nurses and the health care team. A CMT administers oral or inhalation medications in long-term care facilities and assists with medication therapy.

The Professional Certificate and an Associate of Applied Science degree each includes additional courses plus all courses required for the certificate or degree leading to it. You can complete one certificate and enter the workforce, and then continue your education and boost your employability when you’re ready.

Occupational Outlook
