Documentation Required
Immunizations
Many of our affiliate rotation sites that students attend require proof of vaccination. Therefore, all students entering a healthcare program such as health occupations will need to provide proof of immunization and/or immunity for the following:
- Flu vaccine
- Must be completed annually between August 1 and October 31
- TB screening - One of the following is required:
- 2 Step TB Skin Test (administered 1-3 weeks apart)
- 2 consecutive annual skin tests (administered 10-12 months apart)
- QuantiFeron Gold Blood test (Lab report required)
- IGRA blood test (Lab report required)
- Clear chest X-Ray (Lab report required)
- COVID-19 - Exemption requests (if needed) will be accepted on the first day of class.
Clinical Documentation
- CPR for Healthcare Providers - Our clinical sites will accept American Heart Association or American Red Cross. There must be an in person component to the course. Fully online courses will not be accepted.
- Background check and Drug Screen - This will be completed on the first day of classes. Students are required to utilize the JCCC resource to be clinically compliant.
Testing Documentation
- Social Security Card - Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) requires a SS card for state licensure.
- Valid state identification (Drivers license, State Issued Identification, Passport)
What Will I Learn in JCCC's Certified Nurse Aide Program?
Patient and trained caregivers are in high demand. When you enroll in JCCC's Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) course, you'll learn in the classroom and at our fully-equipped classrooms located off campus at JCCC Olathe Health Education Center (OHEC).
In JCCC's CNA program, you'll learn how to:
- Care for patients at their bedside
- Take pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs
- Safely position and transfer patients
- Perform daily hygiene tasks, such as bathing and oral care
- Communicate with patients and their families
- Prevent and control infection
- Work in an adult care home
- And more!
You will be eligible to take the Kansas CNA test after successfully completing the Certified Nurse Aide coursework.
You can also seek specialized training to become a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) or Home Health Aide (HHA).
You will need CNA certification before enrolling in the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) programs.

JCCC also offers hybrid classes to Certified Nurse Aide students. CNA hybrid courses involve online course content and curriculum, along with in-person labs and clinicals. The instructor assigns clinical days, times, and locations.

CNA - 5 credit hours

All CNA and CMA students must have the following:
- Health Occupations T-shirt - approx. $10
- Gait Belt (available at the JCCC Bookstore) - approx. $10
- Hunter green uniform pants (available at the JCCC Bookstore - no elasticized cuff or denim material) - $15
- White shoes (no canvas, must have enclosed heel or heel strap and no open areas on the toe box)
- CNA and CMA Students Only: Watch with a sweep second hand - approx. $18
Certifications (CNA and CMA students only)
- Basic Life Support (CPR) for Healthcare Provider certification by the American Heart Association (if you don’t already have it).
- A negative TB skin test or negative chest X-ray within one year of the class end date. A two-step TB skin test may be required.
