Associate in Applied Science
in Orthotic & Prosthetic Technologies

OSU Institute of Technology has initiated the process to formally retire the Associate in Applied Science in Orthotic & Prosthetic Technologies and will not be enrolling new students into the program.

For questions or information about the teach-out process, please contact the School of Arts, Sciences & Health at (918) 293-4768.

The Orthotic & Prosthetic Technologies program at OSU Institute of Technology teaches students about the design, fabrication and fitting of prosthetic limbs and orthopedic braces.

It’s one of only six two-year orthotic and prosthetic technician programs in the country, and graduates of OSUIT’s program can go on to work as technicians or orthotic fitters in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation facilities, fabrication laboratories, nursing homes and private practices.

Completing an internship is a requirement of the program so students not only get experience in the orthotics and prosthetics field, but also gain increased knowledge of the profession and more earning power.

Earning an Associate in Applied Science in Orthotic & Prosthetic Technologies qualifies you for certification as a technician by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC). The 2018 pass rate for OSUIT graduates taking ABC certification exams is as follows:

  • Certified Orthotic Technician: 50 percent
  • Certified Prosthetic Technician: 50 percent

The on-time program graduation rate for students in the Orthotic & Prosthetic Technologies program is 47 percent. The overall graduation rate is 50 percent.

Orthotic and/or prosthetic technicians who are certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics are eligible for licensure in any state which requires licensure for technicians.
