Information Technology – System Support Track

The Information Technology – System Support degree track at GTCC is designed for students who wish to start a career within information technology. This degree provides fundamentals in a variety of areas including: network operating systems, networking, information security, database, and web design. Upon graduation, students will be prepared to start a career as a Desktop Support Analyst, a Help Desk Technician, or plan on starting a service support business.

No. All software needed to complete this degree are free to students. You will learn to use several professional network operating systems and network monitoring and maintenance applications during the completion of this degree. These are the standard used in the industry.

You will need a PC running the Windows operating system. An Apple brand computer running the MacOS operating system may not support some the software you are required to use.  If using a Mac, please ensure you can dual boot to Windows or use a virtualization application (such as Virtual Box, VMware, Parallels, etc.) for Windows applications.

Yes, this program is offered entirely online as part of our eDegree Program.  It is also available at our Jamestown Campus.

Maybe, we will evaluate each course you obtained from other academic institutions to ensure the currency and relevance of the credit applied. Also, we will assess your current certifications to determine how and if they can be applied to your degree plan. 

Several courses include industry skills and standards in the delivery. Concepts from the Microsoft Server; CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ and Server+ certifications are included in the courses. While this does not guarantee your success in passing the certification exams, practice tests and study plans are provided to you to measure your readiness.
