The Cochise College EMT course prepares you with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to practice as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic as required by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and the State of Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (ADHS-BEMS). Upon successful completion of the eight-credit course, you will have the skills to work as an ambulance attendant or to earn other occupational safety certifications.

The eight-credit Emergency Medical Technician (EMT 174) course covers basic knowledge of the signs and symptoms of illness and injury, procedures associated with the provision of emergency medical care, basic legal responsibilities, anatomy and physiology, triage, patient assessment, and basic life support systems. Students desiring NREMT/ADHS-BEMS certification must complete the state-required hours of clinical experience with an emergency medical service provider of out-of-hospital emergency care. Curriculum meets the ADHS-BEMS guidelines and is approved by the State of Arizona and the National Registry of EMTs.
