Gain the knowledge and skills required to become a safe, successful member of the trucking and logistics industry. NFC is an FMCSA registered training provider. NFC’s experienced instructors will share insights from the road and teach you valuable concepts and techniques you’ll need to earn your Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or Class B certification as well as Hazmat, Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.

Class A: Tractor Trailer Truck Driver

NEW Class begins March 22, 2024

  • 12-Week, 320 Clock Hour Program
  • Class meets Friday, Saturday and Sunday; 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Hours will vary to compensate for night driving requirements

Explore career opportunities and requirements of a professional tractor trailer driver. Learn about safety, accident prevention, operating regulations, cargo handling, documentation procedures, pre-trip preparation, vehicle inspection, maintenance, service, control procedures, backing, coupling, uncoupling, maneuvering, road and hazardous driving skills, and licensing requirements. Instruction includes 1000 miles of road driving under supervision of a qualified commercial vehicle driver. Students have the opportunity to test and earn their Class A Commercial Driver License as part of the program.

Class B: Truck Driver Heavy Florida Class "B"

NEW Class Begins Jan. 24, 2024

  • 150 Clock Hour Program
  • Class meets Wednesday and Thursday; 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Explore career opportunities and requirements of a professional class “B” truck driver. Learn about vehicle safety, accident prevention, operating regulations, cargo handling, documentation procedures, pre-trip preparation, vehicle inspection, maintenance, service, control procedures, backing, maneuvering, road and hazardous driving skills, and licensing requirements. Instruction will include 200 miles of road driving under the supervision of a qualified commercial vehicle driver. Students will have the opportunity to test and earn their Class B Commercial Driver License as part of this program.

Endorsement Training Available On Demand

NFC offers workforce training for the following CDL endorsements on demand.

  • Hazmat (15 Clock-Hour; Two-Day Training)
  • School Bus and Passenger (96 Clock-Hour; Six-Week Class)

Financial Aid Opportunities

  • NFC Foundation: The NFC Foundation offers scholarship applications for each CDL class. Scholarship applications are included in your enrollment paperwork. Please review the requirements and deadlines with the NFC Career and Workforce Education Coordinator.

CDL Program Admission Requirements

  • Be at least 18-years-old.
    • Applicants 18 to 21 years of age are only permitted to operate intrastate (only in Florida) once licensed
    • High school diploma or GED not required for admission to NFC's CDL Class A or B programs
  • Submit NFC Admission Application with $20 non-refundable fee to NFC Office of Admissions. 

Once you have been accepted as an NFC Sentinel (confirmation email received from NFC Admissions), a complete program admission packet with the following requirements should be turned into the the Career and Workforce Education Center Specialist, Bldg. 13, Rm. 232A. 

  • Driving Record: Students must have acceptable driving record and provide copy of Complete Florida DMV-Authorized Driving Record. Available through the D.M.V. (fees apply)
  • DOT Physical: Students must meet the Department of Transportation D.O.T. requirements to drive in Florida and must pass and submit copy of D.O.T. physical. (fees apply)
  • Drug Screen: Students must complete and pass a 10 panel drug screen; must be performed by Down Home Medical in Madison, FL (fees apply); provide sealed results 
  • Commercial Learners Permit: Must have valid Class “A” or Class "B" learners permit to enroll and participate in class

Students are enrolled into the CDL program only after a complete packet has been received/approved. Seats are limited. Completing admission and program requirements early is encouraged.
