UA – Pulaski Technical College’s 8-Week Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program will provide the Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) necessary to obtain a Class “A” Commercial Driver License and a new rewarding lifestyle as a professional truck driver.

Professional truck drivers are in high demand. You have a unique opportunity to choose the lifestyle you want.

Choose from:
Dump trucks (home daily)
Propane Tank trucks (home daily or over the road)
Waste management (home daily)
Food Service (home daily deliver and unload to restaurants)
Over the road (gone 2+ weeks at a time)
Regional (home weekly)

Many other opportunities are available, all with very competitive pay and benefits. Recruiters from several transportation companies visit our campus and talk with each class.


CDL Program

UA - Pulaski Tech offers the Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) required for your CDL. This program is 8 weeks in duration offering a Certificate of Proficiency in Tractor and Trailer Operations.

This includes:
Hours of service regulations Personal safety while on the road
Drug and alcohol regulations Pre and Post Trip inspections
Driver qualifications and disqualifications Roadside inspections (by law enforcement)
Manual and electronic logs How to protect your CDL (keeping your record clean)
Trip planning Human Trafficking (required for CDL)
Map reading, GPS usage Federal, state, and local laws
Load securement / Weight distribution Backing maneuvers
Wellness (keeping yourself healthy on the road) On the road driving
Time and money management Distracted driving
Defensive driving  

Our Knowledgeable and Professional Instructors will equip you with a solid foundation to become a top professional driver.

The below classes are a total of 12 Credit hours:

  • Legal Requirements of Tractor Trailer Operations
  • Pre-trip for Road Tractors and Trailers
  • Tractor Trailer Logistics

Our Equipment

Currently we have five trucks in our fleet. Three 10-speed manual transmission tractors and two 12-speed automatic transmission tractors. We have 48’ and 53’ trailers.

All of our equipment is late model and well maintained.

UA-PTC also has State of the Art Truck Driving Simulators. These are used to assist in teaching the various hazards of truck driving. This includes but is not limited to awareness, tire blowouts, and driving in snow and rain.


What you will need

In order to register for the CDL classes you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a valid Arkansas driver’s license

Prior to class you must have:

  • A class “A” CDL Learners Permit
  • A DOT Physical (Medical Examiners Certificate)
  • A DOT Certified Drug Screen
