Journeyman License

The state allows graduates of the Electromechanical A.A.S. to sit for the Journeyman exam if they also have 45 hours in the current NEC (ELT-117). It is the intent that students do so within one year after graduation. Students will have earned 4000 hours of experience upon graduation from the ELT program, but still need additional hours of experience to apply for a license. After passing the exam, they can apply for a Journeyman in Training license when they have 2000 additional hours of licensed work experience. They can also apply for a Journeyman license after they have 4000 additional hours of licensed work experience.
