

The Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate is a 30-credit program. Due to the New York Office of Alcohol and Substances Abuse Services (OASAS) regulations, the certificate is a selective program for students who have an earned degree in social sciences. Others can enroll in full AAS Human Services degree and complete the certificate along with the two-year degree. The program is designed to prepare students for starting or enhancing employment within the addictions field. All of the credit hours earned in the Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate program are transferrable to the Human Services A.A.S. Degree Program. Completion of the certificate will cover 265 hours of the 350 total, CASAC educational hours required for credentialing by OASAS.

It will also assist those interested in gaining access to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 910 Electrician Apprenticeship Program. The Certificate is a subset of courses offered in the proposed Industrial/Commercial Electrician AOS Degree program. Students will develop knowledge in electrical construction and basic electrical theory while learning basic electrical construction skills. Topics include electrical theory, electrical circuits, and electrical construction along with supporting courses such as electrical blueprint reading and project estimating.
