Wind turbine blades are exposed to weather elements 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 20-25 years expected longevity. During that time, they will experience lightning and hail storms, wind gusts, tornadoes, and dirt or sand storms, all wearing on the leading edges of the blades and flexing internal and external components. For turbines with an expected service life of 20-25 years, much of the blades’ maintenance is outside of the warranty window. Blade maintenance is generally not scheduled, however most will require service within the first 3-7 years of operation, and all blades require inspection at the end of warranty periods in order to formulate new maintenance agreements.

A wind turbine technician, also known as a Wind Tech, is a person who is specially trained to prevent wind turbines from malfunctioning or stopping completely. This is done by providing wind farms with routine inspections, troubleshooting any problems, and repairing the wind turbines when necessary. Here at Cloud County Community College, we will train you in the basics of electrical functions starting from direct current and alternating current to motors and generators, transformers, and voltage regulation at the substation level. There are also classes in hydraulics and mechanical systems. The mechanical systems class takes you through gears and pulleys and includes laser alignment.

This course of study will provide the participant with the preparation necessary to test for certification as an Emergency Medical
Technician in the State of Kansas. This is the initial course of
instruction required for persons involved in providing emergency
care. Areas covered include: the control of an accident scene, care
of the patient prior to transport, preparation for transport, transport and care of the patient while en-route to the hospital, transfer
of a patient to a hospital emergency department, communications, reporting, record keeping, and vehicle care. This Emergency
Medical Technician course meets the course requirements of
the Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services as set forth in
Kansas Administrative Regulations.

The Licensed Practical Nurse who completes this 32 hour
course is eligible to take the Kansas State Exam for I.V. Therapy
Certification. Upon certification and under the supervision of a
professional registered nurse, the LPN may engage in a limited
scope of intravenous fluid treatment. IV certified LPNs generally
practice in long term care settings and some acute care.

The certificate includes a three credit hour CA 220 internship that challenges students to apply course work to the world of work.
