A paramedic is trained to administer out-of-hospital emergency care to the sick and injured. Paramedics “bring the emergency room to the patient” by providing advanced life support skills to stabilize patients both on the scene and en route to a hospital.

Paramedics represent the highest level of training in pre-hospital care and they are an important part of the chain of survival in emergency medical intervention. Although the training is rigorous those who succeed will experience exciting challenges and achieve a high degree of personal satisfaction.

Upon successful completion of the paramedic program, the graduate is eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam for paramedic and upon submission of an application to the State of Mississippi, is then eligible for employment with an ambulance service.
