View on provider's websiteNurse Aides assist in the care for the ill or injured by providing basic nursing skills and personal care. Nurse Aides perform patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses. They have a broad range of duties including bathing, walking, feeding patients, making beds, assisting patients in and out of bed, dressing, helping patients with range of motion and activities of daily living. They may provide skin care and observe patients' physical, mental and emotional well-being. Frank Phillips College’s curriculum is approved by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services to teach the skills necessary for work in a long-term care facility, hospitals, and home health agencies. Instruction includes lecture, lab and clinical training in an approved facility. Students must be over 16 years of age, be able to read, write and speak English.
View on provider's websiteThis class is the didactic and clinical portion of a program that leads to the CPT National Examination of Phlebotomy Technician. Phlebotomists are trained to draw blood samples by venipuncture, or arterial collection for medical tests and blood donations. Phlebotomists must adhere to strict policies and procedures while treating the patient with care. Length of clinical depends on individual scheduling and attendance.
