

Graduates of the Automotive Technology Programs will have the skill- set to enter into employment in the U.S. Automotive Industry. This program includes technical hands-on skills in gasoline and light duty engines; automatic and manual transmissions; up-to-date scanners, scopes, meters, probes for diagnostic analysis; diagnostic and re-charge of A/C systems; braking tools, lathes and application and four wheel alignments. Graduate will also learn soft skills required to be successful and complete in the U.S. Automotive industry including: safe and productive utilization of shop tools and machinery; automotive information and data retrieval using national databases; interpersonal communication techniques in individual and group settings and critical thinking skills.

These industry specific certifications demonstrate to employers that students have a particular aptitude and breadth of knowledge in machining. This CAS is a 41 credit hour certificate. The structure of the program allows students to complete the required 41 credits by attending a Fall and Spring semesters, making this a program that students can expeditiously complete and enter the workforce with a valuable and legitimate college credential. The CAS in Machining Technology will provide students the opportunity to learn the important aspects of the science and art of machining.

Students learn to operate a variety of conventional machine tools, computer numerical control (CNC) machines, read and analyze engineering drawings and use precision measuring and inspection instruments. The new computer automated manufacturing (CAM) lab uses Mastercam software to program the CNC equipment. Students develop the skills required for employment in this highly technical field.

Administrative skills include: answering telephones, using computer applications to schedule patients and update pt. medical records; arranging hospital admissions, lab and radiological procedures; handling correspondence, billing, coding and bookkeeping. Clinical skills include: taking vital signs and patient histories, administering immunizations and medication, wound care, assisting with minor office surgery, instrument care and sterilization, drawing blood and performing CLIA waived lab tests and ECGs. Additionally, Medical Assistants must understand principles of medical ethics and medical legal issues.

To meet these needs, the Health Programs Department is providing students with advanced education to meet the demands of the ever-changing radiologic field. The educational requirements are derived from the standards of several national organizations, including the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) to provide an education that will maintain continuity among radiologic professionals. Radiologic Technologists use x-ray equipment to produce images of tissue, organs, bones, and vessels of the body. These medical professionals perform diagnostic imaging examinations. Work settings vary from large hospitals, to suburban outpatient clinics, to rural physician offices.
