This program trains students to perform a variety of medical services including recognition of and management of patients with heart disease; immediate care to persons with auto accident injuries, burns, poisoning, and alcohol and drug overdose; assistance with emergency childbirth, acute psychiatric disorders, and various other medical emergencies. This program meets or exceeds all National EMS Paramedic Education Curriculum requirements.

Students who wish to participate in the Paramedic Certificate program must be 18 years of age or older, be a currently-certified EMT, and have one year of pre-hospital or patient care documented experience. In addition, they must have a current CPR-BLS for ‘Healthcare Provider’ or equivalent credential. Students must also have completed BIO 160 or HES 129 or be enrolled concurrently with EMS 240 and EMS 241.

A phlebotomy technician (phlebotomist) is an integral member of the medical laboratory team whose primary function is the collection of blood samples from patients by venipuncture or microtechniques. As a physical therapist assistant, you will earn an income above average for graduates of a technical college degree program. Physical therapist assistants work under a licensed physical therapist and are directly involved in the care of patients who have movement disorders following an injury or illness. Physical therapist assistants can work in many environments and in multiple specialty areas such as neurologic, orthopedic, cardiac and pulmonary, sports medicine, geriatric and women’s health. The spectrum of care ranges from the pediatric to the geriatric patient to help decrease pain, restore movement and improve their quality of life.

This is a profession where you will be responsible for direct patient care. You will perform a variety of tasks including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy and soft tissue mobilization, and a variety of physical and electrical therapeutic modalities. The program, which is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs in cooperation with the Accreditation Review Committee on Education in Surgical Technology, provides the knowledge necessary to take the national certification examination for surgical technology. Surgical Technologists prepare the operating room sterile field, assist with patient positioning, and prepare and drape the operative site. They pass instruments, drains, sponges and dressings to surgeons. They know the name and function of each instrument, anticipate its use and pass the instrument without being asked. They play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the sterile field.
