Montco's Dental Hygiene associate's degree program prepares you to work as a dental hygienist in a variety of settings and to provide preventative and therapeutic oral care to the public. You'll receive extensive, hands-on training at Central Campus's new, state-of-the-art Health Sciences Center in its dental hygiene clinic. You'll also gain clinical experience at community-based sites.
Upon successful completion of the Dental Hygiene program, you'll receive an Associate of Applied Science degree. If you decide to continue your education, you can transfer your credits to a four-year institution. To make your transfer as smooth as possible, we have established transfer partnerships with several Pennsylvania colleges and universities. We also possess accreditation from The Commission on Dental Accreditation.

This program is designed to prepare licensed dental hygienists to administer local anesthesia. The course meets the requirements of the PA State Board of Dentistry to apply for certification in the administration of local anesthesia in the practice of dental hygiene.
Program Description
The content of this 32 hour course includes the mechanism of action of local anesthetic agents and vasoconstrictors, a review of essential anatomy, armamentarium, patient evaluation, local and systemic effects and complications. In addition, individuals will perform safe and effective local anesthesia administration techniques on clinical partners under the supervision of qualified faculty.
This course is offered in a hybrid format and includes six computer online sessions with two synchronous sessions completed at home and three evening laboratory sessions completed on Central Campus in Blue Bell.

The 156-hour Medical Billing Specialist hybrid program provides a foundation in medical billing and medical administrative support functions. Learn the customer service skills as well as the support functions needed by medical front offices. It is worth noting that the College works closely with Montgomery County employers to recruit directly from the program. Training in basic claims processes for medical insurance and third party reimbursements is provided. Our program includes an introduction to medical terminology, CPT4 and ICD10 coding and the standard techniques for Electronic Health Records (EHR) is taught. You will receive a refresher on Microsoft Word and Excel functions.
Upon successful completion of the program, you will be able to:
Compare and contrast the billing methodology for the following: insurance, fee for service, and other types of health plans.
Assign ICD10 CM and CPT codes and procedure modifiers.Utilize the concepts of customer service including effective telephone usage in a medical setting.

The 15-credit one semester Certificate of Completion provides students with the opportunity to study Medical Coding and health services administrative practices/ procedures so that they are qualified for an entry level coding position.

Use coding and classification systems in order to assign valid diagnostic and/or procedure codes for medical billing and reimbursement required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) including the validation of coded clinical information

Upon receiving the Medical Coding Certificate, you are eligible to take the American Academy of Professional Coder's Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam. You may also pursue additional coding certificates.
