

The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program is designed to educate students through classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction to become medical assistants capable of performing a variety of tasks to maintain efficiency in the health care environment.

Communication skills, body mechanics, bed making, restorative care and care of the dying client are among topics covered.
This state-approved program includes 50 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of clinical training. In addition, coursework prepares students to take the state licensure examination.

View on provider's websiteThe Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) curriculum provides supportive courses in the liberal arts in addition to core courses and clinical experience in DMS. The 22-month curriculum includes four semesters and three summer sessions. Beginning with the first summer session, students enter clinical rotations. Although most hours are spent in a hospital setting, students also attend lectures on campus. DMS students must complete 1,160 hours of clinical instruction, which are scheduled throughout the program in collaboration with clinical affiliates. Clinical hours occur during all College sessions.
View on provider's websiteThe healthcare industry is currently undergoing major changes in the manner in which patient care is provided. These changes have resulted in the introduction of a new category of healthcare worker trained to perform a variety of patient care services. The Patient Care Technician course teaches the technical skills necessary to service complex patient personal care issues including basic bedside care, collection of laboratory specimens, rehabilitation services, phlebotomy and EKG's. The Patient Care Technician works alonside doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers to help oversee and monitor patients. This training course will provide the healthcare worker with the basic medical knowledge and hands on skills necessary to perform direct patient care and technical diagnostic testing. This program prepares students to take the National Health Career Association (NHA) certification exam. The Certified Patient Care Technician program will provide students with a solid foundation, combining theory learned in the classroom with hands-on practice via clinical rotations. View on provider's websiteA Physical Therapist Assistant, or PTA, is a clinician who provides, for patients with impairments from illness or injury, treatment interventions and components of therapeutic measurement under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
Upon graduation from the PTA program, students will be eligible to take the National Physical Therapy Exam for PTAs to determine competence for licensure application, and thus will be able to work in a variety of patient care settings.
Application packets for entry into the program will be made available to students during the preceding Spring semester. Students receive acceptance into the program once, yearly, during the late Fall semester.
PTA technical coursework begins during the Spring semester and concludes with two 6-week full-time clinical affiliations in the subsequent Spring semester, just prior to graduation in May.

Students will be required to read their textbook as well as successfully complete detailed online course work every week and attend one night of classroom practical skills instruction per week, in addition to several Wednesday sessions during the program. In addition to the class sessions, students will be scheduled for clinical experiences in 9-1-1 dispatch centers, in both basic and advanced care EMS units, and in a hospital. Successful completion of this program allows students to sit for the New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician certification examination as well as the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians' certification examination.

Paralegals may not practice law. RCSJ's paralegal program has been ABA approved since 1998.
