They translate ideas into drawings and are an integral link between an idea and the finished product. Students will use plans, assembly drawings, and maps from notes and sketches. The Texas Southmost College CADT Program offers two degrees: Certificate of Proficiency-Level One and Associate of Applied Science.

The program prepares students to pursue a career as a computer-aided drafter at an entry level. Other students enter this program to learn this profession and transfer to four-year institutions to become architects or engineers. Completion of the one-year program leads to the Certificate of Proficiency-Level One in Computer-Aided Drafting Technology, providing the necessary initial technical training to basic drafting methods and procedures. It also prepares a student to become certified as an entry-level CAD operator and enter the workforce, or pursue further college training. Upon completion of the program, the students will be able to produce correct 2D and 3D drawings to specifications using CAD software and communicate effectively in order to complete routine drafting team assignments under supervision.

Completion of the two-year program leads to the Associate of Applied Science in Computer-Aided Drafting Technology, providing a strong academic and technical base, giving the graduate the needed skills and knowledge for entry-level employment and the foundation for professional growth. Upon completion of this program, the students will be able to produce correct 2D and 3D drawings to specifications, apply specialized knowledge and skills utilizing CAD software, and communicate effectively in order to work in drafting team assignments with minimum supervision. Welcome to the Texas Southmost College Radiologic Technology website. Our Radiologic Technology Program provides you with two years of academic and clinical training. Our students learn the fundamentals of Radiologic Technology in the classroom and in the college lab which is equipped with fully digital x-ray equipment. Students practice concepts learned in the classroom at area hospitals side by side with qualified clinical instructors. Our clinical affiliates all have state of the art digital x-ray equipment. The clinical portion of the student’s education is done in hospitals in Brownsville, Harlingen, and Weslaco.

The Radiologic Technology Program has been in existence at Texas Southmost College since 1975. This program has been carefully structured so that students can gain confidence in their clinical skills. I and the other program faculty will help guide you through your radiologic technology education at Texas Southmost College so when you graduate from this program you will be fully prepared and have the confidence to work as a Radiographer.
